Public Speaking

I attended a Twitter space conducted by Eddie and Sara on How to improve your speaking in public. Here are some important points which summarizes the session :-

1) Everyone is nervous while starting to speak publicly. Overtime it gets easier for everyone.

2) Practice as often as possible, Practice in-front of the mirror, practice in shower, try to take feedback from your friends.

3) Don't get stressed. Take deep breaths and speak confidently. Watch some YouTube videos on public speaking, watch TEDx talks and try to improve your speaking.

4) Don't try to script everything, write few important bullet points, have a mind map on what are you going to speak & don't try to squeeze everything in one point.

5) If you're sitting while talking, try to sit straight, it makes you look alert. Keep your language simple and don't rush ahead.

6) Remember to smile when you're speaking, it makes the audience feel good. It makes you seem confident and relaxed, and as though you're enjoying yourself.

7) Try to look in the eyes of the audience, it makes them feel important.

8) If you get asked a difficult question & you don't know the answer, First take a deep breathe so that you don't get nervous. Don't try to give fake answers, answer by telling them that it is a "Great Question" and that you will come back to it.

9) So that it will make you and the audience engage with you after the event.

10) Don't fear failure. Even sometimes experienced public speakers make mistakes. All you need to dod is learn from the mistakes, practice and improve.

A huge thanks to Sara and Eddie for conducting such an informative twitter space. Hope this blog helps you! Thank you.
